Christmas Mourning {A Poem}

Snow on flower

Christmas mourning

Sorrow blankets the heart

A blizzard of grief

For those suffering loss.

No carols of joy

Just songs of lament

A tear-filled tune

When the night is silent.

Earth’s carpet winter white

We shrouded in black

Like the lorn nightingale longing

For her loved one back.

The love lorn nightingale, nightly to thee her sad song mourneth well. -John Milton
