May Day. May Day. Help.

His MerciesTomorrow is May. The changeover month from buds sprouting to full bloom as nature embraces more sunlight. In the states, gardens are being planted and farmer’s markets being plotted. Here in South Africa fall is upon us and winter fast approaching. The mornings are cool with dew-topped grass and the afternoons sun-filled and mild.

Some of us have chosen words, made resolutions or set goals for the year. Are we seeing progress?

May Day. May Day. Help.

My one word, discipline, has turned into drudgery. Weight-loss has come from being sick, language learning tools are dusted around and exercise sporadic.

May Day. May Day.

Enter God, our rescuer:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. –Lamentations 3: 22-23 (ESV)

A clean slate of mercy is ours every morning.

Our goals may have grounded and our words become wearisome, but our God is faithful.

And I am sure of this, the he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. –Philippians 1:6 (ESV)

It’s May 1. Let’s clear the whiteboard, take a do-over and start anew.

  1. Debbie, thanks for the comment you left on my blog. I’m interested in your work in Africa. Did you know my husband and I worked in Africa for 8 years? 🙂 We also worked in South America for three years, and the vignette you commented on took place there. I look forward to getting to know you and your work better. We have a lot in common. God bless you!

    1. Linda I do remember our blogging paths crossing before. I wish your book was available on Kindle. I would love to read it but sending a copy here to South Africa would be pricey. I have a memoir in me somewhere but just not for sure when it will come out. 🙂

What are your thoughts?
