One Word for 2014

Find one word. One word for 2014. How?

You can pray about it. Reflect upon your life. Ask a friend or a family member.

What is one word you would like to see more of in your life?

Thanksgiving? Joy? Patience?

My one word has been lurking in the shadows. Desiring to be dealt with but I’ve never wanted to make the commitment until now. My one word for 2014 is:

Discipline

One definition of discipline from the Oxford Dictionary of English is:

– (discipline oneself to do something) train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way.

Where do I need discipline? Here are just a few areas:

*Cooking healthy meals

*Exercise

*Language learning

*Consistent prayer time with the Lord

Gasp! A missionary needs to discipline herself for quality prayer time? Yes, it’s true. Being a missionary doesn’t mean I am exempt from the pull of the world. It also doesn’t mean I still don’t have desires to lose weight and be physically fit. Those things are part of being a good steward of the body God gave me.

So for encouragement I am joining the group at One Word 365.

I also made a One Word Weekly Planner as a way to be more intentional with my one word.

Enjoy it!

  1. I had to come over to visit you after you visited me 🙂 I love your word. Discipline is not an easy word to maintain focus on. Yet if one were to develop the necessary discipline needed so much of life would fall into place & order. Praying that He helps you in each area. Blessings!

    1. Yes, now I am going to feel like my friends are watching me to see if I am being disciplined but in a way that is good I think it will help me more to stay the course.

  2. I chose the word “gratitude” for 2013, and it was amazing how much I learned! I have some ideas for 2014, but am still working on narrowing it down to one word/phrase. I really love how it guides your reading, thinking, and writing for the year though… so helpful!
