Saints in Every Place {A Poem}

“…called to be saints together with all those
who in every place call upon the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
1 Corinthians 1:2
Saints in Every place
The church is not to be contained
Within walls made by men
In cushioned seats
That never see a stain.
The church is saints in every place
Who call upon His name.
From the inner-city of New York
Where Bible stories are read
Amid the gunfire of gangs
A young child found dead.
To the back streets of China
In darkness believers meet.
Unaware that police are at the door
Tomorrow it’s prison for their belief.
With gun pressed to his son’s head
An Egyptian officer yells, “Recant! Recant!”
“I’ll see you in Heaven my son
For to deny Christ, I can’t…I can’t.”
The church is not to be contained
Within walls made by men
In cushioned seats
That never see a stain.
The church is saints in every place
Who call upon His name.

  1. So true. The church is believers standing firm in faith– and sharing that faith. I'm visiting from spiritual Sundays. May God bless your ministry!
